A Secondhand Hero

After years working undercover on Roatan Island in Honduras, James has relinquished his dreams of glory and settled into a cycle of working and drinking, permitting himself little time or energy for anything else.  That is, until he meets Eve.  She’s young and full of life, but more importantly, she lacks the sour cynicism that has become all James knows.  As their relationship develops however, a terrorist attack rocks a cruise ship not far from James’ area of responsibility, thrusting him head long into the life he thought he had always wanted, only to find that the life of a covert operative is far darker and more tragic than he ever anticipated.

Just My Luck

                          By Jan D'Aprile

Jan (known to local readers as Jan from Woodgate) has kept readers coming with her unique blend of no-nonsense honesty and screwball wit that leaves no subject off limits. From hilarious misadventure to heartwarming family tales, Jan takes you into the world of the North Country, sharing her take on small town gossip and world politics in a way only she can. Even in the face of cancer, her strength of character is ever preset as she refuses to take life too seriously and shows us all how sweet life can be if you're just willing to put in a little work.

I like the believable setup to the story; it plays off my suspicions of exactly what goes on in intelligence.
